Chase away the winter chill with a steaming bowl of Dog Days Chili!
This homemade canine-friendly delight is crafted with a blend of savory ingredients, including lean ground meat, hearty beans, and a touch of dog-approved veggies. Slow-cooked to perfection, it's a warm and comforting treat for your furry friend on those frosty winter afternoons. Watch your pup's tail wag with joy as they savor the delicious warmth of Dog Days Chili.
In a large pan, heat 1 Tbs. olive oil over medium heat. Add the turkey and sauté until browned. Drain oil. Place into a bowl and set aside.
Dump the ground beef, beans (with liquid), diced tomatoes (with liquid), diced mixed vegetables, and tomato paste.
Pour 1-2 Tbls. of olive oil over top the mixture.
Stir and loosely combine ingredients.
You can cook the chili either on low or high settings.
Allow the dish to cool completely before serving to your furry friend. You may want to add some cold water as it will be very hot.
Add optional extras: I like to add a large spoonful of greek yogurt and sprinkle some shredded cheese on top of the hili before I serve.
Always ensure that ingredients used are safe for dogs, and consult with your veterinarian if you have specific dietary concerns or if your dog has allergies.
